Justice Roberts was nominated to the court by President Herbert Hoover in 1930.

Roberts was known for protecting first amendment freedoms. (see Herndon v Lowry, 1937). When the teapot dome scandal broke during the grant administration, he prosecuted Albert Fall the Secretary of the Interior for accepting bribes and won.

This board presents a letter reference the world of plastic which was new when Roberts wrote this letter in discussion thereof. The photographs on the board (A) catch the Justice outside in full view of today’s antique cars and are snapped up quickly at auction (b) Walking through a building and shaking hands with a dignitary and (C) in front of an old airplane. The Court photo includes numbers affixed to the Justices. This is cryptic and included Is something THIS WRITER HAS NEVER BEFORE SEEN.

Roberts is most notorious for switching his vote re Roosevelt’s threat to pack. See West Coast Hotel V Parrish (1937)
