Justice Terry Sanford #72 (1865-1930). Sanford autographs a chambers card dated July 22, 1926. There is a photographic print of Justice Sanford. There is also a period picture of the Justice with his wife Lutie Mallory Sanford. The board includes a numbered first day cover of The Capitol Dome certified and numbered as 40/41 the cover commemorates the good friendship enjoyed between Justice Sanford and the previous president then Chief Justice William Taft. Taft was Chief Justice from July 11. 1921 until February 3, 1930.
It should be noted the passing of Justice Sanford was almost obscured because he and the President, in the person of the Chief Justice William Taft, died on the same day. It seems Sanford was in excellent health but went to a dentist had a tooth removed and unexpectedly expired.
