Justice Whittaker was nominated to the court by Dwight D. Eisenhower. He soon became the swing vote on the Warren Court. Whittaker became the first man to serve as judge on all three levels of the Federal Court System.

Whittaker’s mother died on his 16th birthday and he dropped out of the 9th grade and stayed away for three more years working on his dads farm.

Whittaker autographs a first day cover postmarked from Washington D.C. and displaying support against infantile paralysis. There are five photographs displayed on the board. 1. A closeup picture in his judicial robes and another 2. Closeup in a suit. 3. He is shown with his wife Winifred and her mother dressed out in his robes. And in his full-dress top hat and cane attire. Here are 7 Justices pictured with President Eisenhower one of them is Justice Whittaker.

Whittaker resigned because of a nervous breakdown but note he resurrected himself as lead counsel for General Motors.
