Future justice Woodbury autographs a letter as the secretary of the United States treasury department and does so on July 31,1839. He signed this letter six years before he was nominated to the United States supreme court by President James k. Polk. It appears from the tenor of the letter that Woodbury is asking about the banks condition there in Trenton New Jersey.
