Justice Tom C. Clark (86) (1899-1977). Clark was From Texas. He was nominated to the court by Harry S. Truman. Clark’s father was also a lawyer and President of the Texas Bar Association. Clark had little litigation experience but served as U. S. Attorney General. (few of the justices have taken this road to the court.) On this board, Clark’s autograph is found on a letter from the Attorney Generals Office dated 8.05.1948.) Justice Sherman Minton #87 (1890-1965). was nominated to the court in 1949 by president Harry S. Truman. He offers his autograph on a visitors pass to the 1939 senate chambers. Minton also supported the “New Deal” and Roosevelt’s suggestion, the Court be packed to reduce the workload on senior Justices. Minton is seen in his judicial robes and in front of the supreme court building and walking in the court’s neighborhood. The Supreme Court building (opened in 1935 building can be seen in the background of each of the pictures.
