Justice Kagan attended Harvard Law after Princeton and Worcester College, Oxford. She notably clerked for Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. Justice Marshall gave her a nickname of “shorty”.

Like Byron white she becomes an Associate Justice without any prior judicial experience. Both of her parents were children of Russian Jewish immigrants. She was nominated to the Court by President Obama. It may be important to note that Justice Kagan was the fourth female on the Court and the 8th Jewish Justice.

In 2022, She has been a member of the Court for 10 years. There are now nearly half the Court junior to her position and she now sits in the front row of the court. Justice Kagan seems accessible, available, and attractive to those who appreciate open dialogue.
