Felix Frankfurter #78 (1882-1965)
On January 6, 1943, on Supreme Court stationary Felix Frankfurter #78 (1882-1965) writes a chambers card to F. J. O’Connor, wherein Justice Frankfurter responds, “My dear Judge O’Connor, and I cordially reciprocate your good wishes.” The chambers card was dated January 1943.
The board includes three photographs of the justice which is best described as the justice in chambers in robes reading a supreme court case, another photograph of him in his robes now facing you and a third photograph talking with a much taller person.
Frankfurter notes:
“it is a wise man who said that there is no greater inequality than the equal treatment of unequal’s.”
Frankfurter taught at Harvard but on the court, it could be said that Justice Black and Justice Frankfurter rarely agreed upon anything. One of those things they did not agree on was Frankfurters attempt to proselytize the newer members of the court upon their arrival.
Board number 41.
