Justice James Clark McReynolds #66 (1862-1946)
Justice James Clark McReynolds #66 (1862-1946) Woodrow V. Wilson nominated McReynolds to the Supreme Court. This board reflects an autograph authored by the Justice who served on the court for more than 26 years. McReynolds it has been said by Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. was a wonderful host and very exacting in many respects. For instance, he cried at the funeral of Fanny Holmes, remained unmarried his whole life he helped other justices if he saw they needed assistance, and when he died, he left his entire estate to charity. But he was also exacting in other areas of life! That said he did many unusual things to his staff. McReynolds autographs a card noting justice of the U. S. Supreme Court, May 1, 1928. There is a photograph of the Justice in his robes, playing golf, as a United States Attorney General, and Justice McReynolds is shown in a court photograph sitting in the front row next to Justice Holmes.
Board is numbered 110.
