Board 110a - Justice Sandra Day O’Connor #102

Sandra Day O’Connor is the first woman to be nominated to the Supreme Court. She was from Arizona and attended law at Stanford. She finished 2nd in her class to who would eventually be her boss Chief Rehnquist. (its understood they, for a time, dated.) She was nominated by President Ronald Reagan (also a prior California governor for a time) but also a President. The President is in the photograph with O’Connor’s new boss Chief Warren Burger.     

O’Connor is shown in her robes again in another picture and in another two One of the Photographs she is pictured in here was taken after her retirement in 2006. The justice signs an undated chambers card.

Lastly there is original art by Pugh , an effort on a first day cover postmarked December 17, 1981,  three months after she took her place on the court. The cover is signed by Pugh twice and is numbered in limited edition 19 of 49. Justice O’ Connor is in 1923, 93 years old.
