George Sutherland #70 (1862-1942)
George Sutherland #70 (1862-1942) a United States member of the house, from Utah was nominated to the United States Supreme Court by Warren G. Harding. He had attended BYU and Michigan Law. George Sutherland autographs a 4 x 5 card by signing his name, dating it February 26, 1906 and etches thereon Utah. There are two pictures of Sutherland in the company of his wife Rosamond Lee and a picture of him receiving a haircut from his barber. (the barbers name is unknown). There is also a picture of him in his library and dressed to the nines top hat, scarf, and all. Sutherland was born in England and he became known as the leader of the four horsemen in opposition to Roosevelts “new deal” it should not be forgotten that Sutherland left school before earning his law degree. Upon his death Sutherland expired just days after celebrating his 59th anniversary. Sutherland is the last non-LDS senator from Utah since 1917.
